Buildings
All new buildings in Australia are required to meet the minimum standards set by the Energy Efficiency Provisions of the National Construction Code (NCC). Since they were introduced for housing they have increased from a minimum of 4 stars (2003) to a minimum of 6 stars (2014). The breadth of end uses covered by the Provisions has also increased over time. It seems likely that both the minimum performance and the types of end uses of energy within buildings will continue to increase so that today's minimum will be sub-standard tomorrow. |
